About
LiveWell Colorado
LiveWell Colorado (LWC) is a statewide initiative aimed at reducing obesity rates and related chronic diseases by increasing physical activity and promoting healthy foods. LWC started as a partnership between Colorado Health Foundation, Kaiser Permanente and the Colorado Dept of Public Health and Environment. LWC works with communities to promote healthy eating and active living through funding for policies, programs and environmental changes at the grassroots level.

To empower and support Durango and La Plata County in becoming
an interconnected community where citizens and visitors have access to
affordable, local, nutritous and culturally appropriate food and are
empowered to live a healthy, active and sustainable lifestyle.
HLLP
recently received a LiveWell Colorado grant that enabled the coalition
to set in motion goals based on healthy eating and increasing physical
activity among target populations, namely the working poor, men aged
45-64, children/youth and seniors. Each subcommittee is focused on creating
a healthy environment for all residents in Durango & La Plata County
within its wellness parameter.
